As an Adjunct Online Instructor, you will be responsible for instructing students online and by phone according to program objectives and course syllabi. You may be located anywhere in the United States except California, Pennsylvania and Oregon. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Teaches material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule. - Assists students through online discussions and by telephone in achieving completion objectives. - Provides regular, accurate and timely feedback to students relative to their performance. - Exercises and insures students' proper online decorum to effect a positive learning environment. - Motivates students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process, including but not limited to class discussions, discussion threads, outside assignments, research, enrichment activities, etc. - Maintains and reports student grades and participation. - Maintains expertise in subject area - Completes professional development and in-service activities in accordance with college standards and/or as assigned by Associate Dean or Dean. - Advises students on matters related to their enrollment status. - Participates in department curriculum implementation and development meetings; recommends improvements in curriculum design. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates must possess a Masters degree with 18 credit hours in Economics and previous post-secondary experience teaching, preferably online, and the following competencies: - Subject matter competency in economics - Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing - Ability to perform moderate to complex computer functions using MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Explorer, Internet browser, Outlook Exchange, and web search engines - Certification in on-line teaching helpful, but not required In addition, an online instructor must have: - A current Windows-based PC at your home (minimum specs: 64 MB RAM and 1.2 GB free space on hard drive, Windows XP or higher, MS Office, Internet Explorer 5.X, email with file attachment capabilities) - High speed internet service (DSL, cable modem, or ISDN) in your home
